Paying the price for lack of management.

Back in the 1860's in the wild west of the USA the early settlers and prospectors would line their wagons up waiting for the cavalry to set off the cannon for the land rush to begin. On reaching a likely area a quick stake in the ground and a bit of paper work back at the saloon and that was that.
140 odd years on things have changed a bit ,the wagons are now helicopters and instead of wooden steaks we have GPS'S. But one thing seems to be the same ,at least in Australia's wild west the Kimberley, and that is the land rush , grab for resources in them there hills attitude. There is hardly a square meter of land or sea that dose not have a tenement or exploration permit over it. while we are all currently benefiting from the current boom one thing sticks out. the lack of proper Management and planning from an all of Government prospective .In this case the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing. or do they and just believe that out of site is out of mind in regards to the Kimberley and its resources. Governments and public servants need to understand that tourism is a resource to ,one that can outlast and be more sustainable in the long run than many of these resource projects .Its back to that management word again , Management and its cousin Planning should all happen prior to, not as a after thought.
The Wilderness areas of the Kimberley coast and its off shore Islands need Management and protection now
